On February 22, 2024, a round table dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the National Army was held at the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan under the title “Strengthening the defense capacity of the country as a factor of ensuring national security”. Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, doctor of philosophy, professor, associate member of NAST Khayriddin Usmonzoda gave a brief opening speech and congratulated the staff of the Center on the occasion of the National Army Day, talking about the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and its role in strengthening the state independence of our country.
In particular, it was noted that after gaining independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the formation and establishment of the National Army of the Republic started from zero. On December 18, 1992, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan his excellency Emomali Rahmon signed the Order “On Establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan”, according to which the National Army was formed, based on the People’s Front and forces supporting the constitutional Government.
Thus, on February 23, 1993, a military parade was held for the first time in the capital of the country in Dushanbe, and this day was officially declared the date of establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. Despite numerous economic and financial problems, the Government of the country, from the first stages of the creation of the Armed Forces, paid special attention to the reconstruction and renewal of infrastructure, the creation of specialized units, provided them with modern equipment, and also took measures to train highly qualified military staff.
There is no doubt that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan will continue its efforts to strengthen the defense capability of the country, raise the level of combat readiness, improve the material and technical conditions and social status of the military staff.
The Armed Forces of Tajikistan, being one of the most important achievements of the period of state independence, are proudly fulfilling the sacred tasks entrusted to them to protect security and peace, the country and society, to maintain the foundations of statehood and ensure the peaceful life of the glorious people of the state.
During the round table, the floor was also given to the head of the Department of analysis of regional security issues, candidate of historical sciences Sharifzoda Saidhomid, who spoke on “National Army: conceptual and institutional aspects of its formation in the period of state independence”. It was noted that in order to provide the National Army with the necessary headquarters and premises, military equipment, ammunition, clothing and food over the past three decades, the Government has established 10 military units with all the necessary infrastructure, 24 military commissariats in cities and districts, and more than 100 service facilities have been built and put into operation. In addition, more than 2,600 new structures and buildings have been constructed and put into operation to create favorable conditions of service and life for the Armed Forces and other military structures and law enforcement agencies of the country, which is an important and timely measure to strengthen the defense capacity of the country.
Then, on the topic “Legal enlightenment of citizens — one of the factors of economic security” was made by the head of the Department of analysis of sectoral issues, candidate of economic sciences Murtazozoda Oraz, who noted that the celebration of such historical dates, on the one hand it is a manifestation of respect for the state system, on the other hand it is a tribute to recognize the hard work of individuals who have worked worthily to restore the constitutional order of our country. Therefore, it was considered important to increase the legal knowledge of citizens in the direction of recognition of the national mission and pride in the achievements of the period of Independence.
In the round table discussion, the participants of the conference expressed useful opinions. In particular, the chief specialist of the Department of analysis of regional security issues, retired colonel Saidkhoja Akbarov, during his speech, explained the main stages and historical lessons of the formation of the National Army of the country to the audience and expressed useful recommendations for strengthening the country’s defense capacity. Narziev Jahongir, the leading specialist of the Department of analysis of regional security issues, expressed his concern about the international importance of the National Army. It was noted that rapid arming of countries in modern times is a complex and important global issue and has a profound impact on international relations, security, politics and world economy. In this context, the role of the National Army as a reliable shield of the country in international relations has become more important. In the same way, the chief specialist of the Department of analysis and forecasting of internal policy, Nusratova Shahnoza, in her turn noted that if the soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan are physically defending the Motherland, the brave men of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan are the brains of the country, the thinking of the nation and they protect the national interests of the country with their intellect and ingenuity, and they are undoubtedly leaders and loyal children of this nation and state. In her speech, Nusratova Shahnoza, on behalf of all members of the Women’s Council of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, with pride for the statehood of her civilizing nation and with gratitude for stable peace and stability, congratulated the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the country to all the noble people of Tajikistan, brave soldiers and officers of the Motherland and the employees of the Center.
